Perfect for lounging blissfully or keeping your toes toastie in bed, our lush socks are traditionally knitted for us in one of the oldest family-run mills in the UK, using sustainably sourced Peruvian Alpaca fibre, and finished with hand-linked toes for maximum comfort.
One of the ‘noble’ fibres, alpaca is as soft as cashmere, lighter than wool, and has the lustre and strength of silk. The cuticle of alpaca fibre is smooth compared with wool, and contains negligible amounts of lanolin, so those who find wool itchy or irritating next to the skin usually tolerate alpaca really comfortably – it’s sooo soft, and becomes even softer with use.
Alpaca is renowned for its incredible insulating and moisture wicking abilities, meaning your feet stay dry and warm in winter, and dry and cool in summer. It resists pilling and is naturally deodorising – in fact its antibacterial and odour resistant properties mean that alpaca socks can be worn frequently between washes.
These beautiful animals are gently shorn every 12-18 months by the indigenous farmers who nurture them in the Peruvian Highlands, so as well as being fully biodegradable, their fleeces are a sustainable and completely renewable material. What’s not to love?!
